The "2017 Taiwan Expo in the Philippines" concluded today (1st), after a three-day exhibition that attracted 36,000 visitors and generated approximately $58 million USD in business opportunities. The medical industry achieved the most fruitful results. The next stop for the Taiwan Expo, organized jointly by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Philippine Taiwanese Business Council, will be Malaysia.
The exhibition, held at the SMX Convention Center in Manila, showcased over 4,500 high-quality Taiwanese products and services. According to the latest statistics from TAITRA, the event attracted approximately 36,000 visitors over three days, including 1,150 professional buyers. Nearly 1,000 business matching sessions were arranged, resulting in around $58 million USD worth of business opportunities.
The exhibition focused on six main themes: Taiwan's green technology, agricultural and fisheries technology, medical technology, e-commerce, Taiwan excellence, and talent exchange, demonstrating Taiwan's cultural and technological prowess.
Among them, the display of medical services and related equipment yielded the most significant results. For instance, the global debut of the MR Mixed Reality Smart Orthopedic Surgical Glasses by SURGLASSES garnered attention. During the exhibition, they negotiated cooperation with 11 potential medical equipment agents and hospitals. Additionally, the Kaohsiung Municipal Xiaogang Hospital highlighted Taiwan's comprehensive long-term care system and warm services, attracting over 15 potential partners on the first day alone.
Furthermore, dental bed manufacturer Kung Yue Medical Instruments expects to ship 3 to 4 containers to the Philippines by the end of the year. Fudingcheng Biotechnology unexpectedly received inquiries from buyers in Guam, USA. Maosheng Hospital successfully promoted Taiwan's technology and capabilities in test-tube babies and genetic screening.
With the rising environmental awareness in the Philippines in recent years, there is also considerable interest in green energy technology products. The spotlight was on Dong Yuan Electric Machinery's 5-seater electric motorcycle, with approximately 50 potential buyers inquiring about it. Companies like Sun Rise Solar, which produces water solar energy, Delta Electronics, which exhibited micro-grid systems, and leading micro-inverter manufacturer GoodWe, attracted the attention of numerous distributors.
During the exhibition period, there was also a "Taiwan Excellence Experience Zone" featuring 80 Taiwanese sports and leisure products. The fourth and final event of the year, the Taiwan Expo in Malaysia, will take place on November 9th in Kuala Lumpur, continuing to assist companies in expanding into the Southeast Asian market.
