Minister Chen Ming-huang of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) led the NSTDA Accelerator and Maker Base startup teams to Silicon Valley, USA, where they organized the "NSTDA Startup Team and Silicon Valley Venture Capital Matchmaking Event" in collaboration with the Science and Technology Office in San Francisco on April 22nd. The event aimed to promote innovation and entrepreneurship projects, securing resources for Central Taiwan's entrepreneurial teams and strengthening international connections. More than 20 venture capitalists and startups attended the matchmaking event. In addition to sharing investment experiences and the venture capital environment, Silicon Valley venture capitalists also engaged in group discussions and matchmaking with startup companies. The atmosphere was enthusiastic, and startup companies expressed that they gained valuable insights from the event.
Accompanying the National Science and Technology Development Agency to the United States for the "NSTDA Startup Team and Silicon Valley Venture Capital Matchmaking Event" were several domestic companies, including SURGLASSES、 Taiwan Shennong Social Enterprise Co., Ltd.、Eternal Shine Biotech Co., Ltd.、Rayon Innovations Inc.、 BraiM、Baker Biotech、and others. Additionally, H. Spectrum from the Eternal Age Foundation and Ti Taiwan Incubator were also present. Furthermore, there were 10 venture capitalists from Silicon Valley and four TTA startup companies participating in the matchmaking event locally in Silicon Valley.
The National Science and Technology Development Agency introduces Taiwan Bone King, a member of the NSTDA startup team. Established in the NSTDA Taichung Park in 2017, Taiwan Bone King developed the world's first head-mounted smart surgical glasses. Through VR, MR, and 3D imaging technology, doctors can visualize bone and tissue images on patients. This product was honored with the 2019 CES Technology Innovation Award in the United States. Taiwan Shen Nong developed biologically induced pesticide substitutes. Through the conservation of natural enemies and the development of various pest control techniques, it suppresses pest occurrence and reduces the use of conventional pesticides. The product has won championships in competitions across the Taiwan Strait.
Eternal Shine Biotech utilizes medical information technology, integrating medical clinic management, expert medical services, and advanced biotechnology into an integrated operational model as a medical technology company. Rayon Innovations focuses on developing applications for robotics and automatic control systems and provides various teaching materials and aids for educational robots. BraiM utilizes 3D technology to provide modules with large tissue, undehydrated, structurally complete, and lower distortion rates, enabling physicians to make more accurate judgments.
Baker Biotech focuses on improving cancer radiotherapy by designing a new generation of esophageal cancer brachytherapy applicators. They have received awards such as the "15th National Innovation Award for Startups." The Eternal Age Foundation's H. Spectrum Accelerator is dedicated to the fields of health, education, and charity, supporting research and talent cultivation. Ti Taiwan Incubator invests in startup teams with unique innovative ideas, concepts, or products and provides startup seed funding.
Chen Ming-Huang, Director of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), emphasized Taiwan's renowned technological prowess on the international stage. He stated that the advancement of Taiwanese startup teams into Silicon Valley would help expand the visibility of central Taiwan's startup teams. This initiative marks NSTDA's first teaming up with Silicon Valley, aimed at exploring potential partners and business opportunities. To further promote the development of the smart biomedical minimally invasive and intelligent machinery industries, NSTDA has established the "AI Smart Robotics Manufacturing Base." Currently, NSTDA is actively guiding domestic and international AI startup teams to join the base, fostering more outstanding startup teams to take root in NSTDA and connect with the international market. NSTDA is committed to promoting domestic industries to invest in the biomedical and smart machinery sectors, facilitating innovation and entrepreneurship, and creating high-quality manufacturing environments. The agency hopes to secure more domestic and international matchmaking opportunities for startup teams in the future.
