(Penang, 6th) The Taiwan Image Exhibition, debuting for the first time in Penang, held a two-day event at the Penang International Convention and Exhibition Centre, showcasing innovative medical equipment that marks a new chapter in the healthcare industry. Among the highlighted exhibits were the smart orthopedic surgical glasses and fully digital orthopedic medical imaging dissecting table, which garnered significant attention.
Hailing from Taiwan, SURGLASSES has long been committed to the development of medical software and equipment. The smart orthopedic surgical glasses and fully digital orthopedic medical imaging dissecting table represent the team's advanced research and development efforts.
Developed by SURGLASSES
Founder and CEO Dr. Wang Minliang emphasized that the fully digital orthopedic medical imaging dissection table is a comprehensive system for teaching human anatomy, serving as an essential educational tool for medical students.
"In the past, students relied on cadavers and textbooks for knowledge. Our team spent approximately six years developing this dissection table, utilizing CT scans and MRI imaging from two real individuals to clearly label the human anatomy."
"This multi-touch dissection table can display the 11 physiological organ systems of the human body, including the reproductive system, respiratory system, lymphatic system, cardiac system, urinary system, nervous system, muscular system, skeletal system, digestive system, skin system, and endocrine system."
He explained that a cadaver is costly; preserved cadavers treated with formalin obscure the true structure, such as lymphatic and nerve lines. In the past, medical students could only imagine the lymphatic parts through textbooks, while this 3D dissection table provides terminology and explanations for each system unit, offering rich anatomical medical education content that fully meets the requirements.
He pointed out that with this 3D anatomy table, teachers can easily manipulate the virtual human body, and the detailed structure of the human body can be clearly displayed, providing students with a better understanding.
The intelligent orthopedic surgical glasses reduce surgery time by 30%.
Established in 2017, SURGLASSES‘s proudest invention is the world's first intelligent orthopedic surgical glasses, which can significantly reduce surgery time by 30%.
Dr. Wang Ming-liang pointed out that in the past, during orthopedic surgery, doctors relied on medical screens to compare the surgical positions. However, this method contradicts human nature and can lead to errors. It also requires many experienced doctors to make precise judgments.
"Another issue is that the primary surgeon often has the only view of the surgical field and angle, making it difficult for other doctors or surgical teams to provide real-time assistance," he pointed out. The intelligent orthopedic surgical glasses can assist surgeons by displaying the patient's bones and tissues in front of their eyes during surgery, eliminating the need for them to repeatedly check screens and X-ray data.
He used spinal surgery as an example, highlighting the need for high precision. When a surgeon punctures the spine, if they accidentally damage a nerve, the patient may become paralyzed. Even worse, if an artery is injured, it could cost the patient their life. Therefore, spinal surgery is extremely dangerous, and when surgeons wear intelligent orthopedic surgical glasses, they can focus entirely on the surgical site and improve precision.
He noted that this unique product has undergone clinical trials in multiple countries and is expected to be launched globally later this year. In the future, there are also plans to enter the US medical market.
HwaGuang Life Sciences Introduces RuiTe Diabetes Management System - Patients Can Self-Measure Blood Sugar Via App
Diabetes patients must measure their blood sugar levels every day. HwaGuang Life Sciences, a Taiwanese company specializing in biotechnology and medical testing systems, has introduced the "RuiTe Comprehensive Smart Blood Sugar Management Service," which allows patients to measure their blood sugar at home through an app and a blood glucose meter, with the blood sugar index uploaded to the cloud.
HwaGuang Life Sciences established its subsidiary in Malaysia in March last year. General Manager Chen Yu-Peng pointed out that the prerequisite for blood sugar management in the RuiTe Comprehensive Smart Blood Sugar Management Service is accurate and precise blood glucose readings. However, the RuiTe glucometer has consistently been rated the best in the industry, even surpassing the accuracy requirements of the ISO 15197:2013 international standard.
"However, to achieve truly tangible improvements, we need not only accurate glucometers but also the connection between patients and healthcare professionals. Even after brief consultations, breaking through time and space to continue close cooperation is essential."
He stated that the RuiTe Diabetes Management System (DMS) is the only system to date that utilizes Internet Communication Technology (ICT), seamlessly connecting patients and healthcare professionals in real-time management, providing a better diabetes management solution for diabetes patients.
"Due to the rapid increase in the diabetic population in the Asia-Pacific region, Malaysia is a mature market for blood glucose monitoring. Therefore, we anticipate continued growth in the Malaysian market."
In Malaysia, only about 20% of diabetic patients achieve their blood sugar goals, while 80% do not. Chen Yu-Peng mentioned that most patients fail to reach their blood sugar goals even with medication and blood sugar testing. This problem could stem from lifestyle changes, types of medications used, medication adherence, comorbidities, attitudes towards the disease, and patient-professional healthcare collaboration.
"We believe that the RuiTe Comprehensive Smart Blood Sugar Management Service will bring tremendous benefits to patients and serve as a bridge to connect all patients' real-time health data with their healthcare professionals. It is also an intelligent platform that allows healthcare professionals to access patient data at any time, analyze patient data, and intervene in care if necessary. It educates and empowers diabetic patients to understand their condition, ultimately guiding them to effectively manage their diabetes."
Currently, RuiTe Comprehensive Smart Blood Sugar meters are available for sale and use in medical facilities such as Coning Pharmacies. Additionally, the price is affordable to the general public.
